But why?

Blackhawk! brand items and Safariland items don’t have the same hole pattern. They are very similar, but not close enough to work. The Cross-Platform Adapter bridges the gap, allowing gear combinations that weren’t feasible before. Sometimes the only holster that works for a particular pistol configuration is a holster that won’t attach to your existing gear. This is why we designed the Cross-Platform Adapter.

The Cross-Platform Adapter will also work with other brands if they use either the Blackhawk! hole pattern or the Safariland hole pattern.
